Reunion & Scholarship Awards - Q1 2025

Happy New Year and thanks for reading the January 2025 Radio Reconnaissance Project semi-annual newsletter! In hopes of spreading the word to more of the community, we would like to share what the non-profit has been up to as well as what we have planned. Feel free to reply with questions and/or comments.

Past events and activities

Reunion

Over Labor Day weekend (August 30-31), we held the 2024 RRP reunion at the San Vicente Resort in Ramona, CA. The weekend was a great success. Activities started with a welcome barbecue, followed by a golf tournament, and concluded with a banquet and silent auction. Many thanks to Shane and Kristle Wilkinson for their help organizing the events and hosting the opening night barbecue at their home. We're already looking forward to next year's (2025) reunion, which will most likely be held on the East Coast. If you have any leads on potential venues, please reach out!

The veteran recipient is Owen Buchheit (1st RRP), who is studying software engineering through Code Platoon. This year’s family member recipient is Elizabeth “Eli” Denton (daughter of Joe Denton), who is pursuing a BS in Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University. Present and Future endeavors

The Radio Reconnaissance Project is gearing up for an exciting period with several key events and initiatives on the horizon. A primary focus is providing crucial financial support for the Radio Reconnaissance Operators Course (RROC). This support will directly aid in offsetting costs for platoons, ensuring they have the necessary resources to succeed in this demanding and vital training. At the end of the RROC will be the presentation of the third annual General Al Gray RRP Marine of the Year Award. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding contributions and dedication within the Radio Reconnaissance community, honoring the legacy of General Gray and celebrating the exceptional individuals who embody the spirit of service and excellence.

Beyond supporting the RROC, the RRP is actively pursuing opportunities for inter-service collaboration. We are exploring the possibility of co-hosting an event in the DC area with our Navy counterparts from the TIO-Project, aiming to foster stronger relationships and enhance communication between our respective communities. Additionally, for supporters and enthusiasts looking to show their RRP pride, we are excited to announce the upcoming launch of an official RRP store on Amazon. This online platform will offer a variety of RRP merchandise, making it easier than ever to connect with the project and support its mission. Stay tuned for further details on these upcoming events and initiatives.
